Sangre De Cristo Electric Association Inc.

OPERATION ROUND UP

Operation Round Up®Operation Round Up is an innovative community service fund raising program that gives members an easy way to help those in need. By allowing their electric bill to be "rounded up" to the next dollar they can work together with other members to change lives. There are 231 cooperatives in 37 states that have similar programs. Funds in those programs have been used for a variety of things from helping local fire departments, ambulance services, schools, and individuals in need.

Members who have signed up to participate will notice their bills will include a line item showing the amount that has been "rounded up." All donations are tax deductible and every January and February a summary of yearly contributions will be included on the electric bills of all participating members.

The following members serve as the Operation Round Up board. Representing Lake County is John Kester, Ph.D. of Twin Lakes; from Chaffee County is Robert Hahn of Buena Vista; the Town of Buena Vista is represented by Linda Andersen; from Custer County is Marci Gregg; while Fremont County is represented by Ron Meyers. Joining the five representatives is Wes Duran of Lake County, who serves on the SDCEA board of directors, and Paul Erickson, CEO of SDCEA.

Operation Round Up is a community service program developed to gather voluntary contributions from participating members by "rounding up" their monthly bills to the next dollar. For example, a monthly bill of $52.74 would be rounded up to $53.00. The additional 26 cents collected would be is placed in a trust administered by the Operation Round Up Association Board of Directors (the board) along with all other participating members' rounded up amounts. At the board's discretion funds are disbursed to organizations for food, clothing, shelter, health needs, and education. Operation Round Up funds may not be used for political purposes.

Operation Round Up is an exciting extension of SDCEA's commitment to the people and the community which makes up our cooperative. Clearly, it's a way for a few cents to make lots of sense. If you haven't already signed up to contribute your cents it is not too late, just contact us at (800) 933-3823 or (719) 395-2412, or by email at nyberg@myelectric.coop.
