APPLICATION DEADLINE APPROACHING

Sangre de Cristo Electric Association, Inc., is now accepting applications for the 2020 Washington D.C. Youth Tour. Current high school students between the ages of 16 and 18, as of June 2020, are encouraged to apply.

The Washington D.C. Youth Tour will take place June 18–25, 2020, in Washington, D.C. The week of activities begins in Denver where students from around the state visit the state Capitol and are introduced to the electric cooperative program. The students then head to Washington, D.C., along with more than 1,900 of their peers for a week of learning and exploring. They will visit Arlington National Cemetery, stroll through Smithsonian museums, tour historic monuments, meet elected offi¬cials and learn about the role of electric cooperatives in today’s world.

Sangre de Cristo Electric Association covers all costs to participate in the program, including travel, lodging and food. The only cost to the students is spending money for souvenirs or extra snacks.

Interested students must complete an application form and short essay to be considered for the tour. New this year: Applications will only be accepted through our online portal found on SDCEA’s website under the Youth Programs tile or under Community on the drop-down menu.

Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m., January 9, 2020, to be considered for the program.
