4.6.23 Listening Session – Additional sessions planned

Listening Session Statement

As a board of directors, we have received criticism regarding the delay in finalizing SDCEA’s rate redesign. We understand that this has caused confusion and frustration among some of our members, and we take full responsibility for the delay.

Our primary obligation as a board is to ensure that we fulfill our legal requirements as a cooperative and that we make decisions that are in the best interest of our members. In this case, we believe that we need to hear from as many of our nearly 12,000 residential and commercial members before making a final decision on the rate redesign.

We stand by our core belief that every member’s voice is essential and that every vote counts. That’s why we are pleased to announce that we will be holding additional listening sessions to gather feedback from our members. These listening sessions are just one of many opportunities that we will provide for our members to share their views with us.

We encourage our members to participate in these listening sessions and to share their opinions and suggestions. We value your input, and we want to make sure that we make an informed decision that reflects the needs and priorities of all of our members while safely providing reliable electric energy and services to power the lives of our members and our communities.

We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding during this process, and we look forward to hearing from you at a future listening session.

Sincerely,
Joe Redetzke
Chairman of the Board, SDCEA
