Vegetation & maintaining safe, reliable power
Above: SDCEA crews worked to restore power after a tree had fallen into a line in Buena Vista earlier this year.
SDCEA’s mission is to safely provide reliable electric energy and services to power the lives of our members and communities. Vegetation growth can often pose a significant challenge to maintaining the safety and reliability of our electrical infrastructure. That’s why we have a vegetation management program, and why we’re inviting the public to learn more about its benefits and the impact it could have on the town of Buena Vista during the August 22 Town Council work session. We look forward to answering questions about the program.
Please note, A town of Buena Vista – specific plan has not been developed yet for this program. The plan, when developed, will not apply to every power line in town, or every service line to every residence. Mitigation crews are not currently working in the town of Buena Vista.
We recognize prior to any work in this regard, we need to develop a BV-specific plan that takes into consideration the input of residents, the town, the tree board and other affected stakeholders.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at any time. We are here to listen and work together towards a constructive, cooperative solution. Thank you for your attention and support.
