Applicant/Consumer hereby covenants and agrees to assume all risk of and liability for personal injuries (including death) and damage to property arising out of or caused by the operation of the System. Applicant/Consumer hereby covenants and agrees to secure liability insurance coverage as specified in SDCEA policy C-20, and indemnify, protect, defend and save harmless SDCEA, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees and agents from and against any and all claims and demands for damages to property and injury or death to persons which may arise out of, or be related to, or caused by, the operation of the System or its interconnection to the SDCEA electrical system, except if caused solely by the gross negligence or willful misconduct of SDCEA as determined by a court of law. I, the undersigned, acknowledge that the energy produced by the equipment referred to herein shall primarily be used to offset part or all of my electric energy requirements at the same location and shall not be used to offset or provide credits for electric consumption at another location for me or any other consumer. If, in the opinion of the Association, the Consumer fails to meet the requirements of the Association including subsequent operation of the Generating System in a non-qualifying manner, the Association will no longer be obligated to operate in parallel and purchase any capacity and energy made available and may notify the Consumer to disconnect the Generating System from the Association's system. I have read and understand the Association’s Net Metering Service Requirements. I understand and can demonstrate that the System will be capably operated, maintained, and repaired. I understand and agree that I am required to notify SDCEA if I make any modifications to my System, including but not limited to an increase in capacity. I understand and agree that additional inspections and approvals will be required if I modify my System. I understand that the net meter and the production meter will be owned and maintained by SDCEA. I further understand that the disconnect switch and meter socket housing will be owned by me, the undersigned, and all equipment shall be installed in a location that remains accessible to SDCEA personnel. I authorize SDCEA employees to enter my property at reasonable times under non-emergency circumstances or at any time day or night during outages or other emergencies. Green Energy Program
SDCEA’s Green Energy program provides you the opportunity to purchase 100-kilowatt-hour blocks of renewable electricity to offset electricity provided to your home or business from non-renewable sources without an expensive investment in equipment and installation.
Green Energy is sold in 100-kWh blocks. The current cost of each block is 40 cents. For an extra 40 cents per month for each block, you may purchase renewable energy to offset a portion of, or the entire use of, electricity in your home or business with power from renewable energy sources. There is no limit on the number of blocks you may purchase. For example, if your average monthly usage shows you draw about 700 kilowatt-hours of power, for an additional $2.80 a month (7 blocks), the monthly electric use in your home would be offset by power from renewable sources. The offset will appear on your monthly bill as a Renewable Energy charge.
You must commit to the program for a minimum of one year and will be billed for the number of blocks you commit to regardless of your actual kWh consumption.
Green Energy block prices are market-based and are subject to change.
This is an optional program. You do not have to sign up for this program unless you elect to do so.
