Cotopaxi Scholarship Winners

Sangre de Cristo Electric Association, Inc., awarded 16 scholarships to students in central Colorado this spring.

Cotopaxi High School recipients included Abigail McNeal, Kali Carlson and Chellis Richards. The trio received their award certificate from Geoff Gerk, SDCEA director, during commencement exercises May 25 in Cotopaxi. All earned a one-time $2,000 scholarship grant to be applied toward furthering their education beyond high school.

High School graduatesOne of the objectives of the SDCEA scholarship program is to help as many dependents of consumer-members as possible obtain higher education. For some students the SDCEA Scholarship may be the only financial support they receive. Other applicants may receive scholarships from several sources that cover the full cost for the upcoming academic year. In the event that a student is awarded a scholarship from SDCEA and that student also receives a “full-ride” or several scholarship awards that cover the full cost for this academic year, SDCEA requires the scholarship be returned so it may be awarded to an alternate applicant. Hannah Karg also received a SDCEA scholarship award, but returned it to SDCEA, as she was in this category.

Congratulations to all graduates this spring. The best to you all in the future.
