Fremont County SDCEA board of directors’ applicants sought

Sangre de Cristo Electric Association, Inc. (SDCEA) is now accepting applications for a vacancy on its Board of Directors. This opportunity arises due to the recent resignation of a representative from Fremont County, and SDCEA is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position.

Key Highlights of the Announcement:

Director Seat Available: SDCEA is looking for candidates to fill a vacant Fremont County Director seat on their Board of Directors.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Candidates must reside in Fremont County.
  • Candidates must be members (named account holders) of the electric cooperative.
  • Additional qualifications will be provided for interested members.

Appointment Details:

  • The successful candidate will be appointed at the regular Board of Directors meeting on September 30, 2024.
  • The appointed director’s term will expire in June 2025, at which time they may run for re-election.

Director Responsibilities:

  • SDCEA directors set policy for the cooperative and guide the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Directors do not work at the cooperative daily but attend a day-long meeting once a month at SDCEA’s office in Buena Vista.
  • Board members are strongly encouraged to attend additional meetings and training sessions which may be held online, in or outside of SDCEA’s service territory.

Compensation:

  • Directors serve without salary but are eligible for a monthly stipend and reimbursement of approved expenses.
