Matt Shepherd, Lead Lineman

As lead lineman, Matt is in charge of a work crew of two journeymen lineman. He maintains a service truck, does line work of any kind, both overhead and underground. Lead linemen also are on call and respond to outages during regular work and after hours.

How long have you worked at Sangre de Cristo Electric? Have you held other positions in the company?
13 years in November. I’ve worked here as an apprentice lineman and a journeyman lineman.

What is the most rewarding experience you’ve had working here so far?
The feeling of getting power restored after a long outage.

If you were a Major League Baseball player, what song would they play when you step up to bat?
The Sound of Silence by Disturbed.

Name a skill you have, unrelated to work.
I would have to say being a dad.

I am 5 feet 19 inches tall.

What do you do outside of work for fun?
I love anything outdoors. Camping with the family, four-wheeling and snowmobiling.
