  • Nationwide, co-ops serve an average of 8 consumers per mile of electric line and collect annual revenue of $19,000 per mile of line.
  • SDCEA serves an average of 7 consumers per mile of electric line and collects annual revenue of approximately $10,800 per mile of line.
  • All other utilities average 32 customers per mile of line and collect $79,000 per mile of line.

Community Solar Garden

The development of Trout Creek Solar includes plans for a portion of the project to be carved out as a community solar garden. SDCEA members interested in purchasing a share in the garden will receive bill credits from subscriptions to be applied toward their electric bills.

Terms of solar subscriptions have not yet been determined. More information will follow on community solar garden plans as the project progresses. Subscription opportunities will be publicized. Stay tuned.
