▶️ Video: Helicopter Sets SDCEA pole

SDCEA’s remote, mountainous terrain creates many challenges in supplying electric service in our region. In order to provide reliable, safe power to our consumers, this includes investing in improving energy delivery in areas not reachable using standard equipment.
SDCEA’s contract crew from Altitude Energy coordinated aerial pole placement with a helicopter to set new poles north of town in an area along US 24 in May. Helicopter sets are uncommon – the process is used only when conditions prohibit placing poles using standard equipment.
These poles were set after wildfire mitigation was completed along the section of line and is part of the project of rebuilding the primary line between the Buena Vista substation and the Twin Lakes substation. The project will increase reliability of service to the homes and business receiving service from those substations.
Video is about 2 minutes long.
