2018 Washington, D.C. Youth Tour

Every June, more than 1,600 junior and senior high school students from across the United States embark on a chaperoned week-long, all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. Sangre de Cristo Electric participates every year by sending a student(s) to represent the cooperative. The 2018 Youth Tour will be June 7 – 14.

The Youth Tour opens big doors for small town kids. For some it may be their first airplane ride, first visit to Washington D.C., first time to make friends from outside their community. For everyone it provides an opportunity to see government in action, shake hands with senators and members of congress, and have experiences that will be remembered for a lifetime. It’s an opportunity to meet kids from other places in rural America and make new friends from all over the country, while learning about history outside of a textbook.
