Suzanne Kelly (Suzy).
I represent Rural Chaffee/Lake Counties.

Hometown:

I was born in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, and have lived in Buena Vista since 1949.

How long have you been a board member at Sangre de Cristo Electric?

28 years.

What is the most rewarding experience you’ve had being part of the board so far?

Watching our membership grow from 5,000 consumers to 12,000 in my 28 years, building the new headquarters and hiring Paul Erickson as CEO.

If you were driving down the road,
what song would you turn up if it came on the radio?

Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head.

Name a skill you have, unrelated to board work:

I do oil paintings, many of historic sites: St. Elmo, Hot Springs, Vicksburg, ranches, etc. I am a founding member of Buena Vista Heritage and speak about history and write historical articles for publications.

Please share a fun fact about yourself.

I make great raspberry freezer jam from my own raspberries.

What do you do outside of board work for fun?

I like to garden, hike and ride the 4 wheeler. I love to travel and visit international friends who came as guests to our house; I have visited 37 countries. I’ve also done water aerobics at Mt. Princeton Hot Springs for 31 years.

Anything else you’d like to add?

I have a big family: 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. And I live on a beautiful ranch at the base of Mt. Princeton with the best husband, Bryce.
